 Zone information

The Rione Monti area of Rome is one of the oldest parts of the city. With its cobbled streets and twisting lanes, it is also one of the most charming and picturesque. Located in the heart of Rome, just a few minutes’ walk from the Colosseum and the Roman Forum, it is also well served by public transport: the underground railway stops just 100 metres away at Cavour station and the 117 electric bus service to the Spanish Steps and Via del Corso also passes nearby. Bustling with restaurants, trattorias, pizzerias, pubs, social clubs, theatres and cinemas, the district offers a delightful glimpse of Roman life both by day and by night. The Trastevere District is characterised by the lively night-life. Its medieval small roads in which you can breath the authentic popular mood exalted by poets like Belli and Trilussa, contain restaurants, cafes, and piano bar, but also owns plenty of high artistic value monuments like the churches of Santa Maria in Trastevere endowed with the most important medieval mosaics of Rome, Santa Cecilia, San Crisogono, the ancient San Cosimato hospital with its Claustrum besides the principles palaces Corsini, the Farnesina with the Raffaello paintings, the botanical garden, the several libraries and art galleries.
